Company A has no initial fee but charges 60 cents for every mile driven.

Company B charges an initial fee of $55 and an additional 10 cents for every mile driven.

For what mileages will Company A charge at least as much as Company B?

HI Phillip, if m represent the miles, the inequality to solve is:

.60 * m ≥ 55 + .10 * m

Which says company A's mileage rate must equal or be greater than company B's initial fee + mileage rate.

Solve for m:

.50m ≥ 55

m ≥ 110

Therefore, company A will equal or be greater than company B is the truck is rented for at least 110 miles.
