No. In 1933, Hitler was appointed chancellor of the Weimar Republic in order to form a coalition government and remove the existing stalemate in the Reichstag (German Parliament). He was the leader of the Nazi party, that only had 33% of the national vote, but older politicians thought he would be easy to control due to his age and inexperience. In 1934, the President died leaving Hitler as the new president. Hitler immediately abolished the office of president, outlawed elections, and named himself supreme leader for life. From 1934 to 1938, Hitler and his party engaged in creating race based laws that discriminated against a number of people, but especially and most harshly against the Jews culminating in Kristallnacht where Jewish homes, businesses, and synagogues were destroyed followed by 30,000 Jewish men and teenage boys arrested and sent to a concentration camp simply for being Jewish. Nothing Hilter ever said or did could warrant him being named Man of the Year by anyone other than a fellow antisemite.
