I’m solving special systems of linear equations

The problem is 3x-2=4

3x+5=2y

so i have to add those two together but I’m confused on what to do when the y isn’t on the left side of the equal sign

Are you sure you have the correct problem?

3x-2 = 4

3x = 6 <--- adds 2 to both sides

x = 2 <--- divides both sides by 3

Then 3x + 5 = 2y

3(2) + 5 = 2y

6 + 5 = 2y

11 = 2y

y = 11/2

So the solution is (x=2 and y = 11/2)
