Question

Solution I (1% compound “A” (m/v); MW. 250 g/mol)

Solution II (1.5 M compound “B” MW. 480 g/mol; Density: 1.6 g/mL)

a) 1ml of 5% (v/v) of solution I

b) 1ml of a solution that contains 0.1mg of compound “A” et 0.1% (v/v) of compound “B”

a.) (v/v) means by volume. You are asked to make a new solution that is 5% (by volume) solution 1.

1. Pre-rinse a volumetric pipette with Solution 1 and dispense that liquid into a waste beaker.
2. Use the same volumetric pipette and tip to add 50 μL of Solution 1 to about 0.900 mL of solvent in a 1-mL volumetric flask calibrated to contain (TC).
3. Add solvent to the volumetric flask until the bottom of the meniscus is at the 1 mL mark. Voilà! You have made your solution.
