There are several steps involved. Be sure units agree. Use joules/g for deltaH and joules/g/deg for values of C.
- Heat to raise temperature of 100 g ice from -5.9C to 0C. This is q = mCdeltaT = (100g)(sp heat ice)(5.9)
- Heat to melt 100 g ice. This is q = mdeltaHfus = (100g)(deltaHfus)
- Heat to raise temperature of water from 0C to 100C. This is q = mCdeltaT = (100g)(4.184 J/g/deg)(100)
- Heat to convert 100 g water to steam. This is q = mdeltaHvap = (100g)(deltaHvap)
- Heat to raise temp of steam from 100C to 108.2C. This is q = (100g)(sp heat steam)(8.2deg)
Add up all values of q for each step being careful to use same units (joules, kjoules etc)
