Evolution ASSUMES the unity and diversity of life.
Personally, if Evolution is true, I still don't see a plant becoming an animal or an animal becoming human, IE, I cannot accept the all-encompassing Tree of Life theory.
And before Evolution the unity and diversity of life were explained by the most popular theory in history, The Great Chain of Being.
And let's not forget the evolution of life must start with LIFE -- where did non-living become living.
I simply find it incomprehensible that what is non-living just one day becomes living.
