With these types of problems, it is always helpful to draw a picture. If you draw a rectangle with the longer side horizontal (length) and the shorter side vertical (width), based on the problem, instead of writing 'l' for the length you would replace that with "four more than the width" or w + 4. So when you are substituting the perimeter formula P = l + l + w + w, you will replace the l's with w + 4, making the formula now
P = (w + 4) + (w + 4) + w + w. You can replace P with the value 244m on the left side of the equation and combine like terms on the right side and then use algebra to solve.
