Let x = the smaller number
Let 2x + 10 = the larger number
x(2x + 10) = 100
2x^2 + 10x - 100 = 0
Divide both sides of the equation by 2.
x^2 + 5x - 50 = 0
(x - 5)(x + 10) = 0
x - 5 = 0 or x + 10 = 0
x = 5 or x = -10, not a positive number
2x + 10 = 2(5) + 10 = 20
