Ceasefires during the Civil War?

Were there ceasefires after battles during the Civil War so that soldiers or medical personnel could go gather the injured and the fallen from field? Or, if not, how was this process handled, generally speaking?

Yes after every battle there would be a ceasefire to get the injured and bury the dead.  Sometimes it would be formal and sometimes it would just be done.  Usually the soldiers would do it but sometimes civilians were employed to do the work.  Often bodies were buried in shallow graves and later reburried.  Another big challenge was disposing of the horses which were either buried or burned.
