In order to solve this problem, I set up the following equation:
(calories per minute burned)(number of minutes jogged - minutes rested) = (desired number of calories to burn)
12(m - 5) = 540
I put m - 5 instead of m because we have to take the 5 minutes of rest into account.
Now we just solve for m, which in this case, equals 50 minutes.
Anzelm should plan out 50 minutes for jogging.
