why one dollar divided by 2 is 0.5 dollar, but 1 dollar divided by 0.5 is 2 dollars

I understand the quotient in first division; if I divide $1 in two groups, each group will have $0.5, or in another word, half of $1 is $0.5 But i don´t understand the quotient in the second division. How $1/0.5= $2
