Easiest to answer by calculating the average price of each
Let's say that the initial cost is $100
A. Buy 1, get the next at half price - $100 for first, next one for $50 - average price = $150/2 = $75
B. Buy 5, get the next 3 free - $100 each for 5 plus 3 free = $100*5 = $500 ,but we get 3 free = $500/8 = $62.5
C. Buy 2, get the next 1 free - $100 each for 2, then one free = $100*2, but we get one free = $200/3 = $66.67
D. Buy 3, get the next 2 free - $100 each for 3, then two free = $100*3, bu we get three free = $300/5 = $60
Choose option with lowest average price, which is option D.
Does that make sense? Do you see how I did this?
