Twice the difference of a number and 9 is 3

Help🤯 I have been trying to figure this problem out but my brain is suffering from math overload.

2(x-9) = 3

2x -18 = 3

2x = 3+18 =21

x = 21/2 = 10.5

or

2(9-x) = 3

18-2x = 3

2x =18-3 = 15

x = 15/2 = 7.5

7.5 or 10.5
