a ratio change with henry and sarah. i am stuck on this one hard question.

ratio is 7:6, but we don't know exactly how many each had

call the ratio 7x:6x

(7x-20) is how many sweets Sarah has now

6x is how many sweets Henry has now

the ratio is now 1:2

(7x-20)/6x=1/2

cross multiply

2(7x-20)=1*6x

14x-40=6x

14x-6x=40

8x=40

x=40/8=5

5*6=30 sweets is how many Henry had (Sarah has 5*7-20=35-20=15 sweets now and 15/30=1/2)
