A Rectagular lawn with area of 912. Perimeter is 134. What are dimensions of lawn?

in a problem like this the simplest thing to do is...

134/2=67 (half of the perimeter)

factor 912

2*2*2*2*3*19=(2*2*2*2*3)*(19)=48*19 and 48+19=67

the lawn is 19 by 48 (the length plus the width equals half of the perimeter)

2(L+W) = 134

 

L + W = 67 => L = 67 - W

 

(67 - W)W = 912

W² - 67W + 912 = 0

The quadratic formula will give W = 48 and L = 19 (or the reverse).
