Question of fraction

A man gave 1/4 of his money to Simon, 1/3 of the remainder to Peter,3/5 of the remainder to Jack and the remaining $720 to Chris.What is the total amount of money he had?

Thanks for the answering it.But the total amount should be 3,600 as per answer given in the book.

Thank you Sir. I also tried this way To Simon = 1/4 To Peter = 3/4 x 1/3=1/4 To Jack = 3/4 of 3/5 = 9/20 Remainder = 9/20 + 5/20 + 5/20 = 19/20 - 1 = 1/20=720 Total Amnt = (20x720)/1 = 14,400 I hope this is also correct

Good job, Mevan. Just remember that a proper fraction is smaller than 1, so you want 1 - 19/20 = 1/20.
