What grade do I need to get on my final exam?
Let’s pretend that all the grades have been entered and the only thing left to do in the course is the final exam (this will happen at the end of the semester). Using algebra, set up an equation to find the scores the following students need to get on their final exam in order to get their desired grade in the course.
Student 1: Currently has 750 points and wants a B in the course.
Total maximum #of point is 1000 . The above is the complete problem question. Please help

So, I'm going to assume that an 80 is a B. In that case, Student 1 needs 50 more points from the final.

 

80% = 0.8

0.8(1000) = 800

800 - 750 = 50

 

Apparently, the final is worth 250 points. We only need 50.

 

50/250 = 0.2 = 20%

 

Student 1 needs a 20 on the final to get a B in the class.

 

g = (0.8(1000) - 750)/(1000 - 250)
