Hi I’m a atheist but today I went to see a phycic out of curiosity. I gave him no details not even my name and he said my past away grand father is worried about my mental health and I do have depression. He also mentioned his name and where he lived . How the hell does he know this there must be some sort of scientific explanation

I agree with Mark. The technique is known as "cold reading", and magicians who claim no psychic powers can also do this. James "The Amazing" Randi has demonstrated this skill publicly countless times over his decades of performing. You might also check out the print or online version of the magazine The Skeptical Inquirer. Even the TV show South Park had an episode explaining how cold reading works. You can probably find a clip on YouTube.

Every one (of a certain age) has a deceased grandparent, and most of them care for their grandchild.

Did the "psychic" know the name or phish about for it. Does it begin with "J?"

"Psychics" are skilled at reading the "client" for clues.
