There are three rules for standard form:
1) All variables on one side, all constant on the other
2) No fractions or decimals
3) No leading negative.
I choose to clear the fraction first, by multiplying the entire equation by the LCD:
6* (Y = (-4/6)X - 2)
6Y = -4X - 12 Now we gather the variables
+4X +4X
4X + 6Y = -12
