System Of equations PLEASE read the description

Question

y = x^2 + 2x + 6

y = 2x -5

I am completley stumped by this 

i just know it is a system of equations question

Equate the two equations together:

 

Y  =  2x - 5  =  x²  + 2x  +6  =  y

 

subtract (2x - 5) from both sides:

 

0  =   x² + 2x +6  - (2x - 5)  =   x² + 1

 

which simplifies to:  x²  =  -1

 

Therefore  x  =  +/- √(-1)   =  +/- i  (imaginary)
