Write a vector equation of the line that passes through point P and is parallel to a, then write a parametric equation for the line.

 

 

P (-2,1), a =(3,-4)

(x,y) = t(3,-4) + (-2,1)

 

        = (3t-2, -4t+1)

 

So, x = 3t-2 and y = -4t+1
