There are a few differences but a main difference is that algae use chlorophyll and fungi do not. That's why algae is green (think slimy green stuff on rocks in lakes) and fungi are never green (think mushrooms). Another difference is the cell wall. Algae has a cell wall made up of cellulose like plants but fungi use chitin for their cell walls (like bugs :)) Also, while some algae can live on land, the majority of it is found in water whereas fungi lives on land. I'm sure there are a ton of other differences that are probably more complex but these are some easy ones. :)
