what's the mistake in this question

"both 3 R2" is correct, but that doesn't make them equal.  Why?  "3 R2" when the divisor is 8 means quotient=3 and remainder=2 (or 3 2/8 = 3 1/4).  "3 R2" when the divisor is 4 means quotient=3 and remainder=2 (or 3 2/4 = 3 1/2).  They are not the same.
