All depends where the slaves were. In the South (MD & DE on south), the plantation system is firming up -- farms are getting bigger, and slaves are being raised, not bought. A firm yet diverse slave culture is starting to arise.
In the MidAtlantic, there are some on plantations (Hudson River Valley, PA, NJ), but most are growing in numbers in the cities -- Philly, NYC.... In fact, the first Slave Revolt in the Colonies was in NYC in 1712...
In New England, they are almost exclusively laborers in the port cities -- Boston, Newport....
