I need to solve the equation but im confused on how to do it.

Add 15 to both sides of the equation to get y by itself. 

 

That will give you:

 

y = (-4)+15

 

y= 11

y-15=-4

isolate the variable by undoing subtraction

y-15+15=-4+15

y=11
