First, multiply out the parentheses.
For example,
2(y+3) turns into
2y + 2*3
similarly,
3(2-y) becomes
3*2 - 3y
now put it all together
2y + 2*3 -6 = 3*2 -3y
next “collect terms”. That means, move the ys together, and put the bare numbers together.
i assume you know how to do that.
2y + 3y = 3*2 - 2*3 +6
now simplify
5y = 6
now divide by 5 to get y all alone
y = 6/5
check to be sure, by putting 6/5 in for”y” in the top equation.
2(y+3) -6 = 3(2 - y)
2(6/5 + 3) - 6 = 3(2 - 6/5)
once agaun, multiply out the parentheses
2*6/5 + 6 -6 = 6 -3*6/5
12/5 = 6 - 18/5
put everything over s common denominator: 5
12/5 = 6*5/5 - 18/5
12/5 = 30/5 - 18/5
abd that is true, so y = 6/5 is the correct answer.

2(y + 3) - 6 = 3(2 - y)
2y + 6 - 6 = 6 - 3y distribute
2y = 6 - 3y combine
5y = 6 add 3y to both sides
y = 6/5 divide both sides by 5
