50 m / 25 sec = 2 meters per second is the speed.  Velocity is a VECTOR having speed and direction.
In a compass-based system, South is 180 degrees (measured clockwise from 0o which is North.

In general, you should approach navigation problems from a Vector standpoint; you will learn about this during a full Trigonometry course. For now, it's sufficient to mention direction (due South) and include the speed.
