Manifest Destiny was behind westward expansion where settlers were moving west and expanding across America. New states were being formed such as Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah Nevada, and California. States such as Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and California did not want slavery. Most northern states did not want slavery. However, southern states did not want to give up slavery. As a result, manifest destiny eventually led to the Civil War in America.
