Graphing linear inequalities

Question

Scott makes $12 per hour babysitting and $8 per hour working at the grocery store. He will need to make at least $600 to buy a new computer. 

1) write a linear inequality to represent the situation, then graph

2) using your graph, give two possible combinations of the number of hours Scott Can babysit and work in the grocery store to ensure he can afford his new computer.

Let x = the number of hours Scott will work babysitting

Let y = the number of hours Scott will work at the grocery store

12x + 8y ≥ 600

 

To find your x-intercept, let y = 0 and solve for x.

12x = 600

x = 50   (50,0)

 

To find your y-intercept, let x = 0 and solve for y.

8y = 600

y = 75   (0,75)      Plot those two points and draw your line. Shade above your line. Choose any two points in that shaded area as your answer.
