The data in a data set are normally distributed with a mean of 160 and a standard deviation of 30. Estimate the percent of the data that are less than 100 or greater than 220.

1.  By hand: normalize the data and use the standard normal chart.

 

Find the area left of 100 and the are right of 220.  Then add the areas together.  OR. Find the area between 100 and 220.  Subtract that result from 1.
