slope = rise / run...which is distance from point 1 to point 2 along the y axis (rise) divided by distance from point 1 to point 2 along the x axis (run).
In equation form that means that slope = (y1 - y2) / (x1 - x2)
Each of the points you gave above is written in the form (x,y).
I will be using (0,3) as my point 1 and (-1,0) as my point 2.
slope = (3 - 0) / (0 - -1)
slope = 3/1
