A can walk a certain distance in 40 days and he takes rest for 9 hours a day how long will he take to travel twice of the distance while being twice faster while resting twice of the time?

Distance = rate x time

 

D = r t

 

40 days = 40 x 24 hours = 960 hours

9 hours x 40 = 360 hours

So 960 - 360 = 600 hours of traveling

 

D = r (600)

 

r = D/600 mph

 

2D = rate x time

 

2D = 2(D/600)  x time

 

2D = 2D/600 x time

 

1200D = 2D x time

 

1200D/2D = time

 

time = 600 hours

  

        = 25 days
