Hi I really need help with this I do not understand it at all

this is a question for a sheet that is due soon please help.

Bob and marley are viewing a flea under the microscope. before putting it on a wet mount, they measure that it was 1mm long.If there microscope eye lens has a magnification of 5x, and they turn there objective lens to 40x, caculate how long would the flea appear under magnification ?

When you magnify through 2 magnifiers in sequence, the magnification is multiplied.  (It is not added, which is a common mistake students make.)  So after being magnified 5x and 40x, the final magnification is

 

M = 40(5) = 200.

 

The length of the flea will appear 200 times its actual length.  Can you get the final answer from here?
