Kate has 6 yards of fabric to make hats. Each takes 3/8 of a yard to make. How many hats can she make?

Please help with answer and how to get the answer, these word problems on my son's homework are making me lose it!

We have a total of 6 yards of fabric and each hat needs 3/8 a yard. 

The equation you will need is (3/8)x=6

Simply solve for x by dividing both sides by 3/8 and you will have the amount of hats that can be made from 6 yards of fabric.

6/(3/8) = 6(8/3) = 2(8) = 16 hats
