5X + 4(X+1) = 220  <--- multiplies everything by 20, the least common denominator of 4 and 5

 

5x + 4x + 4 = 220  <--- distributive

 

9x + 4 = 220

 

9x = 216

 

x = 216/4 = 24

 

1/4 of 24 + 1/5 of 25 = 6 + 5 = 11
