How do you find a perimeter of a square?

If one side is 5x-8 and the other one 3x

The length of each of the 4 sides of a square is the same.  Then

 

5x - 8 = 3x

 

2x = 8

 

x = 4

 

5(4) - 8 = 12

3(4) = 12

 

The length of each side is

 

L = 4. 

 

The perimeter is 4 times the length.

 

P = 4L = 4(4) = 16
