How would a caterpillar change its environment?

Give two ways that the activities of a caterpillar would change its environment?

 

I don't know how a caterpillar would be able to change its environment. Please explain.

I believe that a caterpillar has a life-changing experience in which he (or she) converts from land-based crawler to air-based butterfly. Suddenly its environment is the whole atmosphere! Look, Ma, I'm flying!
