Blood is indeed a connective tissue. Connective tissue is described as particles in a matrix. Blood, for example, containers red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, floating ions, water, and sometimes, foreign invaders like bacterias or viruses. This is true to its definition: together these substances create a matrix of cells. Bone is another example of connective tissue, where cells and minerals are formed in a matrix.
