This really makes little sense in the language of mathematics.
the first part says x - 5/2 = x
   5/2 less than x cannot = x
the second part says x = 1/-3

putting them together you say x = BOTH x - 5/2  and  1/-3

sorry but it cannot equal two different things

With all due respect, I insist that we are here to solve what is presented to us not to invent the problem and solve it as we think it is, all the answers show a big effort to understand the question, bravo, but are we helping really at the student?????
