Calculate the surface area of a rectangular prism which is 2cm x 4 cm x 6 cm

There are 6 surface areas of a rectangular prism.  2 of them are the same. So the formula is

 

2 (height X width + height X length + width X length) or

 

2 [(2 X 4) + (2 X 6) + (4 X 6)] = 88 cubic cm

 

It doesn't matter which number you assign to width, height or length.  The answer will come out the same.
