there is 275 tickets to a movie. For children the tickets are $3 and adult tickets are $5. The total amount of money was $1025. How many of each ticket is there?

let x = no. of children tickets

275 - x = no. of adult tickets

 

3x + 5(275 - x) = 1025

3x + 1375 - 5x = 1025

1375 - 2x = 1025

-2x = -350

x = 175

 

There were 175 children's tickets and 100 adult tickets
