question!!!

Suppose that there are two types of tickets to a show: advance and same-day. Advance tickets cost
$20
and same-day tickets cost
$40
. For one performance, there were
60
tickets sold in all, and the total amount paid for them was
$2000
. How many tickets of each type were sold?

Just in case you need more help:

You want to eliminate a variable, so multiply (x + y = 60) times -20      -20x -20y = -1200, then add this new equation to 20x + 40y = 2000  you get 20y = 800, so y = 40   substitute 40 for y in the equation (x + y = 60) and you find that x = 20
always check your answers:
20 + 40 does = 60 and  20*20 + 40*40 does = 2000
