True - The United States has lumber and sod used to make houses in early settlements. Steel was used to make railroads and buildings such as skyscrapers and cars in factories. Textile mills were used in New England to make clothing. Thousands of jobs were made to produce steel, lumber, and sod. In the west miners panned for gold and silver.
