Kathryn, first we need to match things up.
3x + 6y = 3
x + 2y = 1
Now, we have an issue. What we would normally do is multiply the bottom equation by -3 in order to get the x's or y's to be opposite the other equation.
(For example, -2x + 2x = 0, so the x's are eliminated)
Buuuuuuut, if we do that, we end up with...
3x + 6y = 3
-3x - 6y = -3
If we add those two equations, eeeeeeverything is eliminated, which means both equations are the same line!
