A car travelling with velocity v, then 5 minutes later its velocity was 1.1v and then 10 minutes later its velocity was -v. What happened?

Answer 1

I'd say that it sped up by 10% during the 5 minutes mentioned.

Ten minutes later, it appears that the car is returning in the opposite direction, at its original speed.
