The best rewrite (repunctuation) would be to place a period where the first comma had been.
Then the next sentence would not need the comma immediately following Therefore.
otherwise, the answer to your question is YES, to avoid runon sentence.

I reply: If you wish to overlook many, many questions that are incomplete, vague, misspelled, et cetera, continue to do so. I offer improvements and corrections for the purpose of helping students improve their ability to express themselves more clearly. That is what, I believe, good teachers do, and should do. I do this on a pro bono basis, free of charge. If we don't contribute to literacy, then we're negligent.
