substitute this value in equation 2, you get -2x -3(6x-11) = -7

 

expand; -2x -18x +33 = -7

 

collecting terms; -20x = -40, therefore x = -40/-20 = 2

 

substitute this value for x in equation 1; y = 6*2 -11 = 12-11 = 1

 

check answer;

equation 1; y = 6*2 -11 = 12-11 = 1 (proven)

 

equation 2; -2(2) -3(1) = -4 -3 = -7 (proven)
