Determine the solution to the system of inequalities.

x minus 2 y less than or equals 6
x−2y≤6
x plus 4 y greater than or equals 4
x+4y≥4

Put both inequalities in the slope-intercept form:

 

1) x₁-2y₁≤6 

 

-2y₁≤-x+6

 

y₁≥.5x₁-3, slope m₁=1/2, y₁-intercept =-3, shade area above the line.

 

 

 

2) x₂+4y₂≥4

 

4y₂≥-x₂+4

 

y₂≥-(1/4)x₂+1, slope m =-1/4, y₂-intercept =1, shade the area above the line.

 

 

The solution to the system, is the shaded area shared by both lines.
