in preparation for the coming year-end party, the class is planning to form a committee consisting of five students. the members of the committee will be selected at random from 6 male and 8 females students. find the probability that the committee will contain almost 3 female students?

For the word ALMOST in your last line, I presume that you meant AT MOST.

Well, let me show you how to calculate ((2 females on committee of 5)
# of ways to choose 2 females is 8C2
# ways to choose the rest, 3 males, is 6C3
# ways to choose a committee of 5 w/o restrictions is 14C5
 
P(2 females) = 8C2•6C3÷14C5.
 
Pattern the other calculalions in a similar manner.
