Hi Barbara, in an ordered pair, (x, y), the x-values are first and the y-values are second. The correct rise over run for the two ordered pairs is:
(y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
(-3 - (-2)) / (-4 - (-1))
(-3 + 2) / ( -4 + 1)
-1 / -3
1 / 3
Which is up 1 and then right 3.
The way to see this is to plot the two points and draw a line through the points.
